OTD Doctoral Capstone Coordinator
Dr. Mica Rutschke is the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator and faculty member in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). She earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Central Arkansas in 2003 and later completed her Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) degree at A.T. Still University in 2021. Her doctoral dissertation examined leadership competencies and mentoring needs among occupational therapy and physical therapy leaders across the United States.
In 2025, Dr. Rutschke became a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) and is expanding her clinical expertise to serve individuals with visual impairments through UIW’s pro bono clinic. At UIW, she teaches courses including Occupations III: Adults, Administration and Policy, and the Capstone sequence.
Dr. Rutschke is passionate about teaching and finds great joy in mentoring students as they develop into future leaders of the profession. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing occupational therapy through education, leadership and service to the community.
