Amy Crocker, PT, DPT, OCS, FNAP

Associate Professor

Amy F. Crocker is Associate Professor and Director of Social Accountability and Experiential Learning in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences. She joined the University in January of 2012 as a founding faculty member. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education (2001) from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS, and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (2004) from Creighton University in Omaha, NE. For seven and a half years, she served as physical therapy supervisor at Greenwood Leflore Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood, MS. In 2011, she became a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedics. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Education with a specialization in E-Learning.

Amy is licensed to practice physical therapy in Texas. Her areas of interest and research include social accountability, interprofessional education and collaborative practice, experiential learning, the integration of pro bono care within physical therapy curriculum, and the use of technology in physical therapy education. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the UIW Community Clinic that began serving the San Antonio community in January 2016.

Amy is a member of the Education, Orthopaedic and Health Policy and Administration Sections of the APTA, as well as the Academic Faculty and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Special Interest Groups of the Education Section. She is an Ambassador for the National Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice, a member of the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy National Interprofessional Education Consortium, and a member of the Texas Interprofessional Education Consortium. Amy will be inducted into the National Academies of Practice as a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow in April 2018.
