The University of the Incarnate Word School of Rehabilitation Sciences faculty receives long-standing recognition for their excellent, forward-thinking contributions to their respective fields.
Our faculty are dedicated to expanding research-based knowledge and promoting the established foundational, philosophical, and scientific research of Physical Therapy. The faculty scholarly endeavors encompass all forms of scholarship - discovery, application, teaching, learning, assessment, and engagement. Students, guided by faculty, develop and complete a scholarly project to be presented during their Capstone throughout the program. The faculty are passionate about cultivating and maintaining professional relationships with each student through mentorship, taking time to provide individualized guidance, personalized assessment, and one-on-one development. Outside the classroom, faculty are actively involved in student organizations, working with students as advisors to nurture and develop the leadership and professional skills expected of tomorrow’s health care team members.
There is a commitment by the faculty to lifelong development that hones academic skills and keeps faculty ahead of the curve with developments in physical therapy. They are actively involved in School committees and participate in professional organizations, with many holding key leadership positions in university faculty governance, local/state physical therapy organizations, and national physical therapy organizations. Our faculty allow us to maintain an excellent student-to-faculty ratio for close interaction and personalized instruction.
Part-time faculty facilitate instruction in some didactic courses and laboratories. This allows students the opportunity to learn from additional practicing physical therapists.
