Nathan Brown is originally from southern Indiana but grew along the Texas/Mexico border in Laredo, Texas. He earned a BS in Composite Science with a Secondary Education Teaching Certification from Texas A&M International University. He served in the Coast Guard Reserve for six years in Galveston and Corpus Christi, Texas as a Damage Controlman from 2001 to 2007. Nathan also taught high school physics and chemistry for a year before attending Texas Woman's University's Doctor of Physical Therapy school in Houston, Texas in 2007. After graduation, Dr. Brown worked primarily in the areas of orthopedics, sports and acute care for over five years while continuing to develop in the areas of manual therapy, sports and orthopedics.

In 2012, he joined the School of Rehabilitation Sciences as a part-time faculty serving as tutor in the physical therapy reasoning course, before becoming a full time assistant professor in 2015. He is the instructor of record for the Professional Topics courses during the student's first year. His professional interests include therapist/patient interaction, wellness, empathy, manual therapy, sports, sociology, documentation, generational and cultural studies, and professional ethics.

Dr Brown is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. He is a ABSPT Geriatrics Certified Specialist and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
