Student Health and Wellness
Student Health and Wellness
Participating in a rigorous academic program can put stress on the mind and body so it is important that students pay attention to their health and wellness needs. A Mindful Moments room is located on site which allows students the opportunity to visit a quiet room to pray, meditate, or just reflect on their thoughts.
Students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program are offered the opportunity to join a Gold’s Gym which is conveniently located within walking distance of the school. The gym features weights, weight machines, and cardio machines in addition to a variety of fitness classes.
Health services are available on the main campus with hours available Monday through Friday. Walk-Ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. See UIW Health Service for more information.
All Doctor of Physical Therapy students are required to carry health insurance. Students with their own health insurance can complete a waiver form; otherwise, health insurance coverage will be provided through the university. For a copy of the health insurance policy offered through the university, visit UIW Health Services.
Counseling Services
Professional counselors and counseling interns are available by appointment at the Counseling Services Office located at the main campus. UIW students are allowed 12 counseling sessions at no charge. After a student has received 12 counseling sessions, additional services will be billed to their insurance and a co-pay will be required depending on the student's insurance benefits. Insurances we accept: CHP, Blue Cross Blue-Shield, Cigna, United Health Care, Aetna, and Gilsbar. Students can discuss a variety of concerns including anxiety, relationships, stress management and more. For additional information, visit the UIW Counseling Service page.
