Curriculum Features Problem-Based Learning

Instead of simply memorizing facts, students are taught the process of clinical reasoning by using patient case studies. This provides the framework to learn concepts, ask questions, research possible answers and determine the relevance of that information.

Global Connections

Students can learn from, with and about each other through immersive practical experiences in diverse environments such as participating in an interprofessional mission trip in Oaxaca, Mexico; assisting with clinical education in a rehabilitation center in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; working with IPETH physical therapy students in Puebla, Mexico; or practicing in various clinical sites in Italy.

UIWSRS DPT Students and Faculty Celebrate 9 Years of Serving the Quijotes Mission Trip!

Since 2016, UIWSRS has been instrumental in supporting the Quijote’s mission trip, which is dedicated to delivering physical therapy, health outreach, and cultural exchange services to underserved communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. UIWSRS’s contributions include the preparation of students, coordination of logistics, and the continuous expansion of the mission’s scope. This collaboration not only provides students with invaluable practical experience but also cultivates a profound sense of service and connection to the communities served.
